This week’s post is coming to you from Southern California. Pasadena, to be exact, where I’ll be a attending a wedding and spending some time with family. So without further ado, here’s what the buzz has been about this week:
Facebook Testing Stories Desktop Publishing and New Placement: Facebook is testing the ability to create Stories from desktop and placing Stories on top of the News Feed. Only a limited number of users will have both desktop publishing and design. Stories has not performed as well for Facebook as it has for SnapChat and Instagram so these changes are seen as their chance to grab the spotlight on Stories.
WhatsApp Officially Launches Business App: WhatsApp Business is now here although it’s only available in select markets. The new app, currently available for Android users, is aimed at small businesses who want to connect with customers. WhatsApp Business gives businesses a Facebook-style profile page and serves as an official presence on their service. The app will generate revenue by offering advanced features for larger businesses at a price as yet available.
Instagram Testing Text-Based Clip Feature: Instagram may be set to launch a new feature that will allow users to share text-based clips in addition to photo and video sharing. The feature is similar to the colorful status updates now available on Facebook.
