Summer officially ends this week (on Tuesday, to be exact). If you were busy soaking up as much summer as you could last week, here are the social media updates you may have missed:
Pinterest Announces Upcoming Changes to Promoted Pins: Pinterest will be rolling out changes for both advertisers who use and the targeted audience of Promoted Pins. Advertisers can expect more information about the performance of their Promoted Pins, specifically about how often their ads appear and how many people are buying products via Promoted Pins. Pinterest users will be able to update their privacy settings so as not to have their information shared with advertisers.
Facebook Updates Newsfeed Algorithm: Facebook has once again updated its newsfeed algorithm. The latest update make it more likely for users to see posts from friends and brands that are related to topics trending on Facebook. Facebook’s algorithm update will also factor when people are interacting with posts (liking, commenting, and sharing) for newsfeed placement.
Facebook Removes Personal Promoted Post Feature: Facebook has ended the ability to promote posts for personal profiles. The feature was introduced so users could pay to ensure their most important news (i.e. wedding announcements, job promotions, etc.) would not be missed by their personal network. There was much outcry when the feature was originally introduced.
